Bank of Africa Ghana Limited, commonly referred to as BOA Ghana, is a commercial bank in Ghana. It is one of the commercial banks licensed by Bank of Ghana, the central bank of Ghana, and the national banking regulator. The bank had 33 branches by 2015.Bank of Africa Ghana,was incorporated in 1997, as Amalgamated Bank Limited. In 2006, Meeky Enterprises of Nigeria, acquired 49% shareholding in AmalBank. At that time, Meeky was also a major shareholder in Oceanic Bank, a Nigerian financial services provider which was later acquired by Ecobank Nigeria. In April 2011, majority shareholding (60%) in AmalBank was acquired by the Bank of Africa Group. AmalBank rebranded to Bank of Africa Ghana.

BOA Ghana is one of the large financial services providers in Ghana. As of December 2011, the total asset valuation of the bank was estimated at US$300 million (GHS:735.5 million). The bank is a member of Bank of Africa Group, a multinational, Pan African bank headquartered in Bamako, Mali, with presence in fourteen African countries, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Ghana, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Tanzania and Uganda. The group also maintains an office in Paris, France.

Savings and Investments

Ambition Savings Plan

The Ambitious Savings Plan is a traditional savings account backed by a current account.It allows customers to accumulate a progressive savings depending on its financial capacity.At the end of a period of 12 months minimum and 12 regular payments via standing order, the customer can benefit from a facility to finance a project (ambition). The loan amount is up to twice the amount accumulated via standing orders.

Savings

The Ambitious Savings Plan must always be backed by a current account with a Letter of Undertaking.
Savings, which will be the loan calculation base, must be constituted by 12 standing orders from the current account.
The customer chooses the amount of his standing order according to their project and his income (GHS 25.00 minimum).
Withdrawals are not allowed at all.
Savings Plan cannot be terminated before repayment of loan.
After repayment of loan, the customer can change the amount of his Standing Order.
Exceptional deposits are allowed but will not be used as part of the calculation of the loan amount
Interests are paid monthly.

Ambition Loan

The loan amount is equivalent to twice the amount saved and with a maximum DSR of 40% (whichever is lower). Maximum loan amount is GHS 100.000.00
with a duration of 60 months .The customer can start another Ambitious Savings Plan while benefiting from the loan. Ambition Insurance will be taken to insure against disability or death.
